Join members from Chi Omega and the local Make-A-Wish Foundation at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, for the Eighth Annual Chi Omega Walk for Wishes event at EKU's outdoor track. OMSA sponsors colloquium speakers
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA), along with Women and Gender Studies are sponsoring a Global Perspectives Colloquium on Latin American Women's Movements from 12 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in the Herndon Lounge. Speakers will lecture on the status of the Movement in Cuba, Colombia and Mexico. For more information contact OMSA at 859-622-4373.
Author Michael Kimmel will visit campus
Dr. Michael Kimmel, a leading researcher and author on today's theory of masculinity, will give a lecture at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 in the SSB O'Donnell Auditorium. The lecture, "Mars and Venus, or Planet Earth: Women and Men in the 21st Century," will follow a reception and book signing at 5 p.m. Kimmel's writings have been incorporated into college courses nationwide. EKU Recycling seeks volunteers
The EKU Recycling Program is seeking volunteers to help keep "The Campus Beautiful." Volunteers are needed to help clean up the Alumni Coliseum parking lot after tailgating parties at all home football games. The first request for volunteers will be Saturday, Sept. 19, after the beginning of halftime. For more information, contact Randy Wilson at 622-2966.
EKU Family Weekend begins Friday
Students are encouraged to invite their family and friends to EKU this weekend, Sept. 18-20, to visit during Family Weekend. A variety of activities will be available, including a Family Fun Festival, picnic and bingo. Families can also cheer on the Colonels Football Team as they match-up against Tennessee Tech on Saturday at 7 p.m. For more information, contact First Year Programs at 859-622-2285.
NSD Speaker will lecture on 'Funny Money'
Award-winning speaker James Cunningham will speak to students about "Funny Money" at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 in Brock Auditorium as part of New Student Days. Cunningham's lecture will provide comedic relief, while also informing students about real money issues. For more information, contact First Year Programs at 859-622-2285.
Seasonal flu vaccine now available
The Student Health Center, located in the Rowlett Building, has made the seasonal flu vaccine available for students. The cost is $15 and no appointment is necessary. Also, Dr. Pradeep Bose, director of Student Health Services, will give a presentation to inform students about cold and flu prevention. The lecture will be on Thursday, Sept. 24, in the Library, room 128. For more information, contact Student Health Services during office hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (859) 622-1761.
