Panel to Discuss Appalachian Living
The EKU Reads program and the Center for Appalachian Studies is sponsoring "A Hidden America: Children of the Mountains" from 4-6 p.m. tonight in the SSB Auditorium. It will include a showing of the 20/20 news special featuring Diane Sawyer reporting on the conditions of children living in poverty in the Appalachian region. The viewing will be followed by a panel discussion featuring a variety of speakers. For more information, contact Erin Barnett at 622 - 2994.

Strossen to Speak at Next Chautauqua Lecture
Nadine Strossen will speak tonight at 7:30 in the Clark Auditorium, as part of the Chautauqua Lecture Series. She will be discussing the "Current Challenges to Free Speech." Strossen is the former president of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). For more information, contact Bruce MacLaren at 622 - 1503.

SAC Sponsors Colonel Corn Roast
The Student Activities Council, a branch of SGA, will be hosting the Colonel Corn Roast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, on Powell Corner. SAC members will be roasting ears of corn and giving them to students free of charge. Additional free food will be available. For more information, contact Sarah Carty at sarah.carty@eku.edu.

Career Services to Sponsor Workshop
Career Services will offer a workshop from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in SSB 460 to help students prepare an optimal resume. The workshop will instruct students on how to create a high-impact resume from scratch. It will also include help about creating a Web resume, styles of resumes and special formatting. EKU Reads Discussion Scheduled
The Division of Student Affairs is sponsoring an informal discussion on "The Glass Castle," from 3:30 to 5 p.m. today in Crabbe Library room 201. The novel was chosen as part of the EKU Reads program. The event will be led by faculty volunteers. For more information, contact First Year Programs at 622-2285.

EKU Recycling Seeks Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help clean up during and after this weekend's home football game. The game begins at 6 p.m. this Saturday, and clean-up will start after halftime in the Alumni Coliseum parking lot. Recycling and trash liners, gloves and hand sanitizer will be available on site. Register Now for EKU Homecoming 5K
The 32nd Annual EKU Homecoming 5K Run/Walk will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. Registration that morning will begin at 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. in the Weaver Building. Students can also sign up at the Fitness and Wellness Center now. Before Oct. 9, registration cost is $15; afterward, it is $20. SAC Members Giving Free Hugs and Shirts
Student Activities Council is hosting Free Hugs Day at Powell Corner starting at 11 a.m. Two hundred Free Hugs t-shirts will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis. After the shirts are distributed, students can stay around and help SAC members give free hugs to anyone who walks by and accepts.
