The duo originally made the film as part of an online comedy series, but heard about the competition from a friend and decided to enter their film.
After long hours of editing and help from other students, they submitted the film. It was selected as one of 32 out of 116 submitted from across the nation. Viewers will now vote on the top films for the next roundof competition. Tuesday was only the second day of voting, and James said Honk if You Love Zombies is holding steady as the second most-viewed video on the Rooftop Comedy Web site.
"It's exciting to see the results," James said. "We're not trying to beat everyone right now though, just 16 other people."
The group is asking for support from fellow Colonels to secure a spot in the next round.
To view the video and vote to push it through to the next round, visit www.rooftopcomedy.com/college/funnyfilm/watch/HonkIfYouLoveZombies. Viewers can vote once every five minutes and the polls close Monday, Nov. 2.
