Library computer lab to provide 24-Hour access
Information Technology and EKU Libraries will provide students with 24-Hour access in the Crabbe Library Computer Lab, Java City Café area and Atrium space. The extended hours are at the following times:
Tuesday, Dec. 8 - Friday, Dec. 11:
1:00 a.m.-7:30 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 14 - Wednesday,
Dec. 16: 1:00 a.m.-7:30 a.m.
A security guard will be on duty. For more information, contact Krista Rhodus at 622-1790.
Library extends hours for end of semester
With the semester coming to a close, the Crabbe Library will have extended hours during dead week and finals week at the following times:
Thursday, Dec. 10: 7 a.m.-2 a.m.
Friday, Dec. 11: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 12: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 13: 10 a.m.-2 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 14-Thursday, Dec. 17: 7 a.m.-2 a.m.
Friday, Dec. 18: 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
The Crabbe Library will also provide free refreshments to students who are studying with EKU Libraries' "Brain Food for Finals," beginning at 8 p.m. nightly from Monday, Dec. 14, through Thursday, Dec. 17. For more information, contact Krista Rhodus at 622-1790.
Progress sponsors children's book drive
The Eastern Progress is collecting new books for children between ages 0-5 to benefit Madison County Family Resource Centers. Books will be collected through Friday, Dec. 18, and can be dropped off in donation bins located at the Business & Technology Center, Lobby;?The Eastern Progress Office (Combs Bldg. 326);?Perkins Building, Front Desk;?Powell Building, Information Center;?Student Services Building, Lobby; and the off-campus location?is?University Book & Supply (UBS). Register for Intramural Spring Basketball
Students can register online for Spring Intramural 5 on 5 basketball at www.campusrec.eku.edu. Play will begin on Monday, Jan. 18. For more information, contact Greg Corack at 622-6752.
SGA looking for DEL nominees
The Student Government Association is accepting nominations for the Fall 2009 Distinguished Educational Leader (DEL) award. To nominate a professor, fill out a form at the SGA Web site. All entries are due by Dec. 11. For more information, contact Diane Adams at diane_adams60@eku.edu.
Midnight breakfast returns for finals
The Student Activities Council will sponsor its annual Midnight Breakfast on Friday, Dec. 11, in upstairs Powell. The breakfast is free to all Eastern students and will feature traditional breakfast items to prepare students for finals.
Concert to benefit children's hospital
A "Christmas for the Kids Candlelight Concert" will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Eastern's Newman Center. The concert will feature Darren Zancan with No Less Days and Silent T. Entry is $3 and all proceeds will benefit UK Children's Hospital Cancer Division. For more information, contact Darren Zancan at darren_zancan@eku.edu.
New gym hours announced due to finals
The Fitness & Wellness Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. beginning Monday, Dec. 14. The Burke Wellness Center, located in the Weaver Building, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, contact Campus Recreation at www.campusrec.com.
Firefighters sponsor Community Toy Drive
The Richmond Firefighter's Association is sponsoring their annual "Christmas Toys for Kids Program," scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19. Each year the initiative gives away toys to over 300 Madison County children. The Association takes monetary donations, as well as new and used toys. Donations to the "Toys for Kids" program can be made to: Richmond Firefighter's Association - Toys for Kids, 200 N. Madison Ave. Richmond, KY 40475.
